To determine the percentage of asbestos fibers in a particular building material, a sample of the material must be properly collected by an Illinois-licensed Asbestos Inspector.
Bluestone focuses on asbestos removal (rather than testing). However, we can perform limited asbestos sampling (1-2 materials) during asbestos removal estimates as a convenience to clients. Our estimator can then include in your proposal an estimate to remove the sampled materials (in the event that laboratory results come back “positive” for asbestos).
If you think you may need samples collected during your estimate, please mention this when you contact us to schedule your appointment. We will be happy to quote a price for testing at that time. Note: If you decide to use Bluestone for your removal project, you won’t be charged for any of the asbestos testing costs.
If more extensive testing is necessary, Bluestone can recommend an asbestos testing company. The testing company can be retained to conduct a comprehensive asbestos materials inspection in all areas of the home or facility. For a comprehensive inspection, you should expect an asbestos materials inspection report which would include a list of materials found to contain asbestos, the estimated quantities of asbestos, the condition of each material, photographs, analytical data sheets, etc.
During the site visit, a Bluestone estimator collects samples of suspect building materials. Each sample is documented on a chain-of-custody form, delivered to an accredited laboratory, and analyzed by the laboratory. The results are submitted to the inspector who interprets the results and sends the laboratory report to the customer.
